Design and function of the bed

The 190 cm resonant sound bed as a rehabilitation aid with a curved lying surface provides a feeling of comfort - children and adults can lie or sit in it and it gives the feeling of being surrounded by sound. The great advantage of the bed is its low height and excellent stability, which ensures easy access and very comfortable laying on the bed even from a wheelchair.

By discerning the strings around the perimeter of the bed, the tones are transferred to the entire surface of the instrument and due to the large hollow acoustic space  these vibrations are amplified and long-lasting. The focus of the sound pad experience is the dissolution of physical boundaries, the detachment of time and space and the experience of holistic relaxation. Therefore, it is possible to tap into deep emotional areas with this sound.

Thanks to precise handcrafting, many years of experience of craftsmen creating various stringed resonance instruments, the use of high quality materials and also by enlarging the hollow resonance space of the bed including the placement of holes along its length, an instrument was created that has unique sound and acoustic properties, vibrations penetrate the entire body with unprecedented efficiency, intensity and very long reverberation. They can be felt when touching the wooden surface and both children and adults usually react to these sounds and vibrations immediately and feel their immediate beneficial effects. The sound permeates the body and promotes the microcirculation of its internal environment.

The sound experience is enhanced by the relaxed lying position and the high body contact with the instrument. After the therapy (lasting between 10-30 minutes) many people still feel the sound within themselves hours later. Some experience inner images during the treatment, others have an experience of boundless freedom that opens up thoughts, coming into contact with long forgotten memories.

How to use sound bed

Sit with your back to the bed, slowly shift and lie or sit comfortably on it, close your eyes and relax. The player smoothly runs his fingers over the strings that are on the sides of the instrument. It can also be played simultaneously by pairs of players from each side of the bed. No musical training is required to play, just intuition, feel and you create an amazing stream of vibrations. On one side the notes are higher and we usually start with those, the other side is deeper and we end by playing it - it is more soothing. The therapy should last at least 20 min, but it depends on the client's mood and needs.

Tuning and care

Use a tuning key, tuning wrench or beads to fine tune the strings. You tune with feeling to avoid breaking the strings.

28 strings on each side – 2 monochords with notes A and D:
(A1 - frequency 55 Hz; 23 strings, A2 - frequency 110 Hz, 5 strings)
(D1 - frequency 36 Hz; 23 strings, D2 - frequency 73 Hz; 5 strings).

The bed is made of natural materials and should not be kept in a humid environment or directly near heat sources. Do not expose it to extreme temperature fluctuations.

Custom made material and finishes, mattresses

The shell - the body of the bed is made of birch plywood, the sides and legs are made of beech. The bed is decorated with engraving. strong>On request, it is possible to have it decorated with a picture of your choice (e.g. logo, mandala...). Just send the picture in good resolution to A4 size.

We can also create the bed in colour on request - e.g. staining with pastel colours.

In case of interest it is possible to add to the bed also mattress, its price is CZK 2000,-.

Delivery, spare strings and service

We can send you the bed by courier, you can pick it up in person or we can deliver it to your address within a range of about 100 km. The price of the delivery depends on the delivery address after agreement with the customer.
