Sitar Tanpura

The sitar tanpura is a multi-stringed plucked musical instrument of the lute family, a typical representative of Hindustani music instruments, especially popular in northern India. In addition to the North Indian tampura or tanpura, used in the context of Hindustani music, it is also found in the forms of tambura (South India) or tamburo (Gujarat). In addition to the traditional gourd-bodied tampur, all-wood instruments called tampuris (or tanpurin) are made, primarily to accompany other instruments.

We bring you a top-quality musical instrument made in the Czech Republic exclusively from noble domestic and exotic woods (the top is made of hemlock - Canadian fir, which has excellent resonance and vibration properties similar to cedar used in the manufacture of guitars). The fingerboard is made of walnut. It is the handiwork of a master craftsman who, through years of experience, has created unique instruments that have a soul and thus certainly a positive effect on people. The workmanship, the materials used and the human labour in which the artist puts his heart are a reflection of the quality of the musical instruments, which have an effect on the purity of the sound, the strength of the vibrations and thus the effect on ourselves.

Unlike the tanpura, the sitar tanpura has frets similar to the Indian sitar. This makes it possible to play melodies and accompany each other at the same time. Compared to the Indian sitar, this instrument is easier to play.

    Tuning

The tanpura sitar has 5 strings with the notes D d d and d, tuning is done with a tuning knob which is part of the instrument. Use the chromatic tuning machine or one of the tuning apps to very gently tighten or loosen the strings to the desired tone. The brass pickguard under the strings produces captivating sounds with rich vibrations that will make you feel relaxed and at ease.
